In September 2015, 1x2 Gaming launched Classic Fruit, choosing to have a go at the style of old physical machines. We’ll admit, we were never great fans of this type of gameplay, and we’re warning you ahead of time. If you enjoy no features, and a smaller reel, you might find Classic Fruit very enjoyable – but it’s not quite our cup of tea. Despite that, it has gorgeous visuals, and the temptation of a 97.37% RTP is certainly there!
The title offers three reels and three rows, with five flexible paylines that you can turn on or off at your leisure in case you want to save some money. One thing we can commend Classic Fruit for is the absence of any annoying physical machine sounds – it has an upbeat background track, and the sound effects for winning don’t make us want to throw it out of the window, which is a major accomplishment.
Play Classic Fruit
The 3x3 playing field in Classic Fruit feels rather restrictive after you’ve gotten used to bigger reels and more paylines. But when it all comes down to it, this isn’t our main issue. After all, five paylines covers all your needs as far as a reel that small is concerned. You spin, and you win sometimes, and sometimes you lose out. That’s just the nature of it all.
What vexes us a little more is the absence of any special features to spice up the gameplay. Even free spins, when rare, can be an occasional breath of fresh air. Here, you will be stuck looking at, what are without a doubt some gorgeous graphics and animations – but there’s nothing to look forward to beyond the jackpot.
How to Play
Despite the smaller reel, the gameplay concept remains the same. Collect three symbols that lines up with the payline, and you win. In fact, with less paylines, this is also simpler for newer players, as you can easily make out where all five paylines will go.
You can wager between $0.01 up to $0.50 per spin, and adding coins and active paylines on top of that, means that the maximum wager is $12.50, or 25 coins.
There’s also a very visible absence of the Autoplay option.
Strategy & Tips
There’s not much in terms of strategy that we can offer you here. The small playing field makes this a good place for new players to try things out, as there are no real tricks to fall for – and, by the same measure, nothing really special that we can offer you in this section as a result, beyond hoping that you’re lucky and score a full playing field of lucky sevens, that will reward you with the highest possible win in the game.
Classic Fruit is designed so that its user interface is easily carried over across desktop and mobile devices with ease. The buttons are big and bulky even on the desktop version, and the placement of various parts of the user interface makes it clear that it was designed with a mobile first philosophy in mind.
