In May 2018, 1x2 Gaming decided to cash in on the upcoming football craze that always comes around when the World Cup comes through, and they decided to do it in their own way. With many jerseys, soccer balls and, for the luckiest and most dedicated, the cup itself, you have a title that isn’t particularly flashy in visuals, but offers a rather different gameplay experience that we haven’t had the pleasure of encountering just yet.

The game offers nine different 3x1 playing fields, in which three symbols can fit, and which only reward a win when those three icons all line up. It’s rare that you will all of them, but with nine separate reels, you’re bound to win in at least one or two from time to time. Simple, but effective sound design really pushes it forward into something amazing.

The set up is certainly something quite different than what we’re used to. Each reel is a story for itself, acting independent of each other, though all of its wins combine together at the very end. We can’t say it’s not an interesting idea, but it doesn’t feel like it ever goes anywhere. There are no special features to activate, and the novelty of spinning several reels at once wears out rather quickly.

One thing we can say is that we’ve had some rather consistently decent luck while playing the title. As we mentioned, with nine reels, wins can be plentiful, and the wins themselves can span anywhere from a simply 1x to a whopping 500x, and all of those are just on a single reel out of nine. The theoretical maximum, however, has been capped ahead of time by the developers, so don’t can’t expect a whopping 4500x score.

How to Play

In Football 3x3, when you press the spin button, it makes all nine small reels spin and reveal jerseys, soccer balls, scoreboards or the cup. If three of the same symbol appear in a single 3x1 reel, that awards a win as detailed by the paytable.

You can easily pick between betting between $0.10 up to $5 per spin. This number is then multiplied by the amount of active reels you have – so, at any point, you can choose to tap or click on any reels you don’t want active, which will disable them, and lower your wager.

The title also has a noticeably absent Autospin button, which means you will have to click or tap the spin button yourself to play.

Strategy & Tips

The minimum RTP is 95%, though it can fluctuate depending on how many of the mini-reels you have active. Our suggestion is to simply accept the higher cost and enable them all – it brings the RTP up, and it gives up more opportunities to secure wins, which you will sorely need.

You don’t have to worry about any special features on the playing field, as Football 3x3 has none. You can just tap the button, and hope for the best – something that we’re certain will appeal to some gamblers, and annoy others terribly.
