Heat and warmth are great things in moderation. But we would not be human if we did not seek the brightest flame and try to make it our own. The flame in question are the progressive jackpots in this 2016 EGT release, but their alluring call is still wrapped up in the same dull appearance cloned from their other games and the absence of any soundtrack is to be expected at this point.
The background image is a red wall with small cracks forming all over it, no doubt as a result of the overbearing heat. Then again, we would probably have the same issue if our parts set themselves on fire to highlight winning combinations. The slot is played on a 5x4 playing field with 40 fixed paylines. That means players cannot choose to turn some or all paylines on and off in order to adjust their total bet.
While the specific layout has been changed slightly, Flaming Hot borrows its whole gameplay book from 40 Super Hot. If anything it is slightly worse, as there are more symbols in this game, making it more difficult to score wins. Scatters are the most valuable symbol, followed by lucky sevens, golden bars, bananas and watermelons. Finally, grapes, apples, oranges and cherries are the lowest paying icons. Wilds only appear on the second, third and fourth reel and replace everything except for Scatters. Scatters are super rare, but can grant their pays from any position.
This is a 5-reel, 4-row title with 40 fixed paylines. Like other EGT slots we reviewed, the spin button and the bet select have been rolled into the same buttons. You choose what bet you want to play at, and then keep pressing that button to spin the reels. To the left of the bet select, players can adjust their credit level, turn autospins on, open the paytable, toggle full screen and turn sounds on and off. Above the reels, you can see the ticking progressive jackpots. All pays are awarded from left to right, following the 40 active paylines. Gamblers need at least three symbols to form a winning combination, except for lucky sevens, that can grant a small cash prize with only two symbols.
At the end of every spin, there is a chance players can win one of the four progressive jackpots. If the Jackpot feature is triggered, you are taken to a separate screen, where you pick between twelve face-down cards. For gamblers, the end goal is to collect a set of three identical card suit icons. Depending on which card suit you complete, the accompanying jackpot is awarded to you.
You can also gamble your wins by choosing between red and black cards. Correct choices double your wins, but wrong ones will make you lose everything you have won.
If you do not feel like getting out of bed to enjoy Flaming Hot, worry not. EGT has released a mobile version that lets you play on phones and tablets.
