As 2017 drew closer to its end, ELK Studios decided to put something together real quick for their fans. We’ll admit, we’re not nearly as invested in their title as some are, but even we were touched to see nearly their entire roster of 2017 characters appear to wish us a Merry Christmas. Of course, it’s not quite Christmas just yet, but Halloween will soon be behind us, and so will a fresh slew of Christmas themed games. We figured we might as well get in the mood with some festive, snowy graphics, holiday jingles and some familiar gameplay – more specifically, if you’ve played Honk Kong Tower by the same developer, you will recognize several aspects of the game design here. The title has a 96.4% RTP.

You play this game on a 5x3 playing field with 99 ways to win, with adjacent wins going left to right being paid out. The slot uses mystery reels to some effectiveness, but what will draw most attention from gamblers is the bonus game which includes three wheels you can spin.

The Mystery symbols are a rather straight-forward affair. When they appear, you don’t know what you will find beneath them. However, all mystery symbols will become the exact same icon. It can also produce the Scatter, and if it does, it counts as if you’ve found five Scatters on the playing field.

Why is this so important? Because the amount of Scatters you draw effects the other bonus. Collecting just three Scatters is enough to activate it, but collecting four of five Scatters adds one or two lives respectively to the equation, as well as activating the special feature. Players start off on the smallest wheel, where they can spin to draw a cash prize, a blank, or an upgrade. An upgrade takes you to a bigger wheel with bigger pays, and a smaller chance of upgrading. Still, if you succeed, you are taken to the largest wheel with the biggest pays. If you draw a blank, the feature ends, unless you have extra lives that can take the hit for you.

How to Play

We quite like the wheel bonuses, even if they can feel a bit annoying at times. At the very least, you have all your potential wins right there in front of you, and while it can suck that you didn’t get the best prize, they’re all still quite valuable. Mystery symbols, on the other hand, we never really appreciated, and this game hasn’t changed our minds on the topic. While we understand it can add suspense and thrill to everything, it just doesn’t do much for us.

You can wager between $0.10 up to $50 per spin, which is a nice and balanced spread that should please gamblers who like to bet small and big by giving them plenty of options. The largest jackpot you can score is 306,150 coins.

There is an Autoplay option that allows you to set the amount of auto spins, but nothing else. There are no win thresholds or loss limits.

Strategy & Tips

The slow comes pre-packed with three different betting strategies. Optimizer adjusts your bet level automatically, adapting to a selected percentage of your balance. Leveller increases your bet by two levels after five consecutive losses, and this resets after a win. Finally, Booster raises your bet level by one after a loss, until you reach four levels above base bet. This also reset after a win.

There’s no major difference between mobile and desktop versions.
