You don’t need that many things to frame a good story. You need the hero which you find in our three brothers, the dastardly villain in the hostile Captain Diaz, and the plot, which is to rescue everyone’s tacos from the evil captain who has stolen it all away. Though the theme is rather ridiculous, ELK Studios’ 2015 release called Taco Brothers has other ways of luring you in. The gorgeous visuals, small animations of the three brothers when part of a winning combination, and a rather interesting special feature will all keep players invested. And with an RTP of 96.3%, players will have an above average chance at success.
The game is played in a 5x3 playing field, which uses 243 ways to win instead of regular paylines. The slot has two different special features. The first of which being a re-spin when two Wilds are present, while the second is a standard free spins bonus with a slight, fun twist to the formula.
The Taco Brothers’ Wild is separate from the regular Wild of the game. When two of them appear at the same time, players are given a re-spin, during which they have a chance at activating the second special feature of the game, which are the Wild Escape free spins.
Wild Escape starts when gamblers collect three Safe symbols from the playing field. When the feature is activated, a bomb blows up all the safes, revealing a 1x, 2x or 3x multiplier which is applied before the bonus begins. During free spins, the fifth reel is comprised of three brothers, who each take a turn to appear after the last one does. So Pico appears first, then Pepe after him and finally Paso. All of them create a Wild that moves from the fifth to the first reel, replacing all symbols in their wake. When Captain Diaz lands on the reel, he captures one of the brothers, and if all of them are caught, the free spins end. To combat this, another new symbol is the Senorita, who can restart the feature, but also release any already captured brothers with her keys.
Honestly, we had quite a lot of fun with the free spins bonus of this game. The uncertainty of whether or not the brothers would escape, if the senorita would restart the bonus, or if you’d get caught by the Captain with one reel away from freedom – it’s all an awesome thrill which you will experience while playing Taco Brothers.
You can wager between $0.10 up to $50 per spin, which is a solid range that should please a lot of players, except for more serious high rollers who aren’t satisfied with $50 a spin. The largest jackpot you can win is 150,000 coins.
The Autoplay option exists, and only allows you to select how many autospins you want the game to play out.
You can make use of the several strategies embedded in the game itself, which give you the option for the slot itself to control your wager. It has three settings, but we prefer playing on our own manual level with a wager we’ve set ahead of time. Still, it’s something you can look into if you want.
There’s no major differences between Taco Brothers on desktop and mobile devices.
