Most fruit slots are rather obvious about their intentions. Most digital versions appeal to simpler gameplay and nostalgia. They usually come with high variance, a small playing board and maybe a special feature or two. So, we were pleasantly surprised to find Fruit Slot, despite its unoriginal name, shattering our expectations entirely. Not content to follow the standard ruleset, it blends slots and roulette together in a unique and fun experience.
We certainly cannot call these graphics beautiful. If anything, they feel a little primitive, especially when compared to other GIG Games releases. Given the somewhat unique concept, playing the game as-is feels like a test version. The bonuses it offers are also quite simplistic – there are re-spins and multipliers that are next to symbols and reels. Still, with a fixed jackpot worth 10,000x your total stake, it’s a test version you definitely want to play!

The icons are what you would expect from a slot trying to emulate a physical machine. Apples, oranges, lemons and watermelons make up the fruit section. They are joined with bells, stars, bars and lucky sevens. Each of these symbols also has its special multiplier version with a differently coloured background. There are also two free spins symbols that, sadly, do not grant any actual free spins.
How to Play
The game is played on a board with all symbols displayed in set positions. Rather than spinning reels, each button press highlights part of the board and makes it travel in a clockwise direction. The icon the highlight stops on awards the prize if the player has placed their bets on it.
Instead of having a wager that equally applies to all spins, it changes depending on what symbols and how many of them you select. Betting on each icon, from the most valuable to least valuable one, costs from 5 up to 100 coins. There’s also nothing stopping you from betting on every icon. While that would be a guaranteed win, you’d have to win a minimum of 40 coins to break even. Not the best strategy!
The layout is bright, colourful and easy to navigate. The physical machine design will be hit or miss, but we liked it for the most part.
Strategy & Tips
If your highlight stops on top of a free spins symbol, it plays a single re-spin starting from that board position. The re-spin doesn’t have any additional mechanics, so it never really felt like a proper special feature.
There is also a chance that each symbol appears with an attached multiplier. This happens completely at random, so you cross your fingers and pray. A multiplier can range between 5x to 100x.
A multiplier can also be applied to the entire board. These multipliers only range from 2x to 50x, but apply to all regular symbols if you can catch them!
We thought it would be somewhat awkward to control on mobile devices, but GIG Games did a good job adjusting controls. It feels quite intuitive with a touch screen, so you can enjoy it on whatever device you want.
