Wild Reels is a video slot created by GiG Games themed after the art of getting jiggy. Disco was yet another product of the 80s that has stuck around in our culture long after it lost relevance. Unfortunately, any enthusiasts hoping for one last party will not find this game to be particularly thrilling. It only pays general lip service to disco and otherwise feels rather generic. A boring background image, no interesting animations, and bland icons –it all comes together as a rather disappointing display.

The available symbols are about as painfully generic as they come. Golden stars, lucky sevens, bells, bars, fruits and playing card royals. Each one has been done to death and none of them really gives off an 80s vibe. Playing card royals try to pass themselves off as glowing neon signs to fit with the whole 80’s aesthetic. Unfortunately, you only get one shot at a first impression, and Wild Reels blew theirs.

How to Play

The slot is played on a 5x3 board with 10 fixed paylines. The layout will be familiar to anyone who played any of the company’s previous releases. It is simple to navigate, and succeeds in not poking your eyes out with clashing colours.

The spin button takes centre stage yet again. To its left is the Autoplay function, and to its right is a button with multiple coins on it. Clicking it will open a menu with numerous options for setting your wager. You can pick $0.10 as the lowest and $100 as the highest possible bet while playing the GiG Games’ release.

Connecting three or more identical symbols in adjacent positions from left to right grants you a win. The prize will only be awarded if the combination follows one of the ten active paylines.

Strategy & Tips

At the beginning of every spin, one reel is randomly chosen. It is completely filled with Wilds, increasing your odds of winning! Each spin will have a different reel turn Wild. There is also a small chance that a second Wild reel is created, doubling your success rate!

Three or four Scatters grant 8 or 15 free spins, respectively. It is possible to win additional extra turns by getting three or more Scatters while the bonus is still active. During free spins, players get two guaranteed Wild reels and a chance for a third one to appear.

Mobile Version

There aren’t many differences between the two versions. The only real changes that were applied were to the user interface. Certain buttons and controls were adjusted to make them easier to control on touchscreen devices. As such, you can enjoy the mobile version without having to worry you are getting a subpar experience.
