When you think of cats, you usually consider the small, fuzzy animals that live in our home and make us feed and pet them. While they are truly terrifying and cute overlords, there are far bigger types of felines out in the world – some real, dangerous, exotic cats. So if you like your lions, tigers, panthers, leopards and cougars, you’re going to love Microgaming’s cat focused release, which places these five powerful beasts to roam the reels, just waiting for a good opportunity to swipe you down if you’re not careful.
The visuals are rather toned down, set in a murky, jungle environment with thick canopy and still water. As far as gameplay goes, it’s rather focused on its special features. The game uses 5 reels and offers 243 ways to win. Its RTP is 96.33%. Instead of using paylines, the game simply awards wins when three or more symbol of a kind are adjacent to each other, left to right. The title has two bonuses – a free spin round and expanding Wilds.
All five reels belong to a specific large cat. The first belongs to a lion, the second belongs to a tiger, the third to a panther, the fourth to a leopard, and the fifth to the cougar. You can tell, as their names are written on top of the reels – and if a cat lands on its own reel, it will appear from on top of the reel, swipe down on it and create a full Wild reel for that turn alone. The rest of positions are covered by symbols depicted as a beautiful lady, cat paws and playing card suits.
You can wager between $0.15 up to $30 per spin by choosing a coin denomination and a number of coins per line. The bet is configured to 15 paylines. While high rollers may wish they could bet more, the sheer amount of bets between those two numbers should let you fine-tune your own bet down to the cent. Well, not exactly to the cent, but pretty darn close! The largest jackpot you can win is worth 106,000 coins.
Microgaming offers the Autoplay option that just allows you to select the amount of spins you want to play. There are no additional options or settings you can do.
Free spins are activated by collecting three, four or five Scatters. All three reward 10 free spins, but four and five Scatters grant you a small cash prize on top of free turns. It’s possible to add more free spins if you win three more Scatters during the feature – which adds 5 more free turns.
We have to admit, the special features felt boring. Sure, each reel having its own animal and it being able to create full reel Wilds is a fun concept, but it can be either amazing or a total waste depending on your spin. Free spins, meanwhile, have no bonus attached to them whatsoever. They’re bland and boring. As far as we’re concerned, Microgaming really dropped the ball here.
Despite playing it for a while, we really don’t have much in terms of strategy to share with you. The game feels truly random, and we had a hard time predicting the highs and lows – the features ranged from godly to entirely useless.
The game’s mobile version isn’t that different from the desktop version. You can play it with all its features preserved wherever you are.
