Fields of Fortune is a flowery theme slot set in spring or summer time with a picturesque view of the meadows and hills in the distance. It seems to be a theme inspired by gardening as the featuring symbols include flowers, gardening tools and a scarecrow accompanied by typical low-value A, K, J, Q and 10.
Played at five reels and twenty five paylines, Fields of Fortune was rolled out by Playtech at the start of 2017 and it launched to great reviews. Offering two game modes, one regular and one with Feature Bet active, the 2017 release gives the player more control over gameplay and potential returns, although you need to be wary of using said option too frequently.
The theme is very pleasing to the eye with a colourful and cartoony feel, especially because the high-value flower symbols all have faces and their names: Venus Flytrap, Snap Dragon and Dandy Lion. When you dig a little deeper into this game you will see that making them cute and cartoony is not the only reason why these flowers were brought to life.
Fields of Fortune is a typical 5x3 setting with 25 fixed lines, as we have seen in many other Playtech slots. The controls menu is also familiar with the option to set the size of the bet, Autoplay and Turbo mode.
What is slightly different in this slot, though not completely new, is the Feature Mode. When you switch this button on, the game will be enhanced but you will have to pay double for it.
The game revolves around the Free Spins round but your success will depend to a great extent from the mode you are playing.
Free Games are triggered by three Scatters (Scarecrows) regardless of their position on the reels. However, if you play in Feature mode activating Free Spins is a lot easier as even a glimpse of the Scarecrow will count as one whole symbol.
When you get in the Free Spins you can choose from two different versions: Carrots or Parsnip. Carrot Free Spins will benefit from added wilds and increased multipliers, while during Parsnip Free Spins the flowers will transform into Wilds.
Another symbol you should keep an eye on is the Rose that acts as a Wild and spreads across the entire reel if it is a part of the winning combination. Fields of Fortune looks innocent at first sight, but actually it is full of lucrative surprises.
