On February 2, 2016 the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board posted its monthly report for the total revenue as well as tax revenue that was generated from the playing of slot machines at their casinos during the month of January 2016 on their website.
According to this report the gross revenue from playing slot machines within the twelve casinos located in Pennsylvania rose 2.1% in the month of January 2016 to $184,811,874 this is compared to the gross revenue that was generated in January 2015 of $180,963,004.
Before the winter storm blanketed most of Pennsylvania during the 3rd weekend of the month, revenue from slot machine play was up almost 5% when it was compared to the first 21 days of the month of 2016 to those same days of the month in the year 2015. While most of the casinos were able to keep their doors open during the storm, patrons found it difficult to reach the casinos which in turn led to weekend revenues that were much lower than normal.
