Slot Machines Could Be Placed In Kennel Club Due To Gambling Deal
What’s next for greyhound racing?
Due to a gambling deal that is being negotiated between the state leaders and the tribe, the Palm Beach Kennel Club could be getting Slot Machines and the Seminole Casinos would be able to get roulette and craps tables, and the state would reap at the minimum of 3 billion dollars over the course of a seven year period.
This agreement that is being negotiated is still a long way from being finalized, would also enable a new gaming operation that would be in Miami-Dade County to put in place slot machines on the floor as well as permitting dog tracks to halt the racing of greyhounds while still retaining profitable card rooms.
Numerous sources that have been close to the talks have provided information about the ongoing negotiations that are going on between Governors office and the Seminole Tribe. The Governor’s office is working with the House and the Senate leaders in order to rewrite a 20-year old agreement that is known as a “compact”. The compact authorizes the tribe’s slot machine as well as table games. A provision that is being talked about that was written in 2010, gave the tribe the elite rights to run banked card games, such as the card game blackjack, for the course of five years in trade for a minimum payment of 1 million dollars. This particular piece of the compact expired this past summer.
In these negotiations, the tribe would guarantee a minimum payment of 3 billion dollars over the course of a seven year period as part of the compact that would again last another 20 years.
A segment of the proceeds would go to increment purses for the thoroughbred horse races, now racing at the Gulfstream Racetrack as well as the Tampa Bay Downs.
